The University of Karachi Wins All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest
The University of Karachi has won the ‘All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest’ once again. The contest held on Monday and eighteen teams took part in it. DHACSS College for Women and the Students Adviser Office of Karachi University were organizers of the contest. The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr Saeeduddin who is Chairman of Board of Secondary Education Karachi. He distributed shields and certificates to the participants. The winners of English declamation are:
- Hafsa Tahir of KU won first place
- Kinza Imran from Bahria College Karsaz (Karachi) won second place
- Amjad Ali from Islamia College, Quetta won third place
The winners of Urdu declamation are:
- Sub Lt Muhammad Ahsan from NUST PNEC won first place
- Saad Ghaffar from University of Sindh, Jamshoro won second place
- Junaid Mumtaz from University of Karachi won third place
Global Sikh Council and Former Indian Minister Mehbooba Mufti Commends PM Imran Khan For Establishing Guru Nanak University
PM Imran Khan announced that Baloki Forest Reserve will be named after Baba Guru Nanak and a new University will be established in his name in Nankana Sahib. He made this announcement on Saturday while speaking at 550th Anniversary event of Guru Nanak. Mehbooba Mufti tweeted: How times change. India’s top priority is seemingly renaming historic cities & building Ram Mandir. On the other hand, it is touching to see that Pakistan’s PM has initiated steps to name Baloki forest reserve after Guru Nanak ji & create a university under his name.
The Global Sikh Council on the hand has welcomed the news with utter happiness and respect towards PM of Pakistan. The council released an official statement which reads, ‘ Baba Guru Nanak University will certainly give productive educational approach to Punjabi students from all across the world to get together under one platform of this university and work for prosperity of the region on both Pakistan and Indian sides and international borders’.
Punjab University to Establish a Cancer research Center
The Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Mr. Niaz Ahmed has made an official statement on Tuesday announcing the establishment of cancer research center in Punjab Center soon. He said the university has contacted with Oxford University for collaboration and mutual research. The research center will work on finding ways to prevent and treat this deadly disease.
The VC was addressing at the inaugural ceremony of three-day short course on cancer biology at Al-Raazi Hall. In his address, he stressed upon the need of impactful research and development of research field of Pakistan which can benefit socio-economic sector of Pakistan in long run. He said Punjab University will fund all the expenditure and equipment required to execute the research projects of cancer. He said public institution receives a large amount of money from public and it is our duty to pay to the national through hard work, education and research. By doing effective research we may find solution to their problems, he said. He assured that Punjab University will execute research on cancer according to international standards and with highest quality
