Karachi University is Planning the Launch of AI Degree Program

We have a great news for the students who are interested in AI related academic degrees. In this continuously progressing world of science, the Karachi University also wants to contribute, that’s why Karachi University is planning to launch an AI degree program for the students. This Karachi university AI degree program has been planned to introduce as a 4 year long bachelor degree program. This program will be offered under the Karachi University’s Department of Computer Science and this decision reflects the university's commitment to contributing to the Pakistan’s science and technology industry.

AI Degree Approval Process

The proposal for the AI degree program will be presented for approval at the upcoming Academic Council meeting which is planned on 3^rd December 2024, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. The Karachi university AI degree program has already received authorizations from the Board of Faculty (Faculty of Science) and the Board of Studies within the Department of Computer Science.

If it got approved in the Academic Council meeting, admissions for this AI bachelors degree program will commence from the next academic session (2025). Details about admission rules and seat allocation for this program are still under consideration.

Speaking about this Karachi University’s unique initiative, Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Iraqi highlighted the university’s dedication to providing quality education in evolving fields like AI. He stated, “Our goal is to provide quality education in cutting-edge fields. This AI degree program has undergone thorough evaluation by the Board of Faculty before being forwarded for Academic Council approval.”

Curriculum Affiliated with National Standards

Chairman of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Sadiq Ali Khan, highlighted that the AI degree curriculum was developed in accordance with the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) guidelines. This guarantees that this AI program will meet national standards and will equip students with the skills required in the global AI related fields.

Modern Facilities for the AI Program

To support the launch of this 4 year AI program, the Department of Computer Science is finalizing 2 interactive smart classrooms. These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to enhance the teaching experience and to host technical workshops also by providing students with a hands-on learning experience.
