Local Govt and Community Development Department (LG&CD) is working under Punjab Local Government Act (PLGA) 2013 to ensure local governments perform their responsibilities according to rules and regulations of provincial and federal laws. The major function of LG & CD department is to overlook and assure that specific needs and good governance is provided to mega cities and urban districts of Punjab. The local governments get assistance and support from LG & CD department for creation of autonomous and responsible decision making. In detail the services of LG&CD department include : To provide, manage, operate, maintain and improve the municipal infrastructure and services of local governments , Manage properties and assets vested in local governments, Enforcement of municipal laws and regulations, Levy local taxes / fees to generate income, Frame bye-laws to regulate municipal services, Take cognizance of municipal offences and enforcement and Exercise general powers and procedures as are enumerated in the Provincial framework.
