UET Peshawar awards 220 degrees at 14th convocation

Peshawar, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar has awarded over 220 degrees to students of Bachelors, Masters and PhD at its 14th convocation.

Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa(K-P) Barrister Masood Kausar said on this occasion that KP is facing serious challenges, including energy shortage, poor urban setup and terrorism and it is essential for us to progress in education sector and come forward with ideas to help overcome these challenges.

The governor congratulating the graduates and said you are the builders of the nation and by utilizing your knowledge and expertise you can have successful future and this will be also productive for the country.

Degrees were awarded to students of Electrical, Computer System, Computer Science and IT, Architecture, Mechanical, Mining, Chemical, Industrial, Basic Sciences and Islamiat, Telecom, Electronics, Computer Software, Mechatronics, Civil, and Agriculture engineering. Ten graduates received gold medals for obtaining distinctions. Muhammad Fahad Khan and Hikmat Nissa earned the presidential cash award for excellence in academic performance.

University of Karachi on Wednesday held its 23rd annual convocation and awarded degrees to 3,366 students while 155 of them were given gold medals.

According to information, 3,366 degrees were awarded to students of nine faculties of the year 2011. However, only 771 students were present in the convocation including 182 PhD and 101 MPhil students.
 
Degrees and gold medals were awarded to students of several departments, who have passed BA (Honrs), BS, MA, MLIS, Pharm D, BCom (Hons), BBA, BPA, MAS, MBA, MCom, MHRM, MSC, MCS, MS, MPhil and PhD.

There were 155 gold medals were awarded to both morning and evening programs. Earlier, gold medals were given to students of only those departments which could arrange sponsors.

KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Qaiser said of this occasion that Karachi University is among the top 700 universities of the world and is a significant educational institution in the country. This is because of devotion of teachers and students towards education and research.
