Lahore: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Wednesday temporarily permitted the aspirants below 12-year of age to sit in the exams of 9th class.

The bench presided over Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh instructed Lahore education board to entertain the forms of the aspirants for registration for 9th class exams.

Previously, Advocate Sheraz Zaka representing the students argued that striking age limit of 12 years was a violation of fundamental right of getting education.

He said there was no restriction of age limit in the parallel O & A level education system. The lawyer claimed that there was no provision in Punjab Free and Compulsory Education Act 2014, which imposed such clause.

He said that it was biased that in order to appear in 9th class exams a student had to be 12 years and this policy of board of intermediate was a violation of Article 25A of the constitution, which ensured free and compulsory primary education.

He argued that on the one hand the government of Punjab t promoted education for everyone and on the other hand it imposed restriction of age which was tough.
