Lahore: The govennment of Punjab has announced March 5th, 2017 as the last date to apply online for the Chief Minister's e-Rozgar Scheme, a joint scheme of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology and Tourism.

According to the statement given by sources, the programme is receiving an outstanding response from graduates below 35 years of age as a lot of applications are being received on a daily basis.

The selected candidates will be given 3 months training for freelance self-employment at 40 training centres by exceptional and experienced trainers.

Among those, 5 centres will be made particularly for female applicants. In the first phase 10,000 applicants will be trained in 3 different batches.

Formerly, several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) for the e-Rozgar training programme along with 11 selected universities of Punjab were signed to establish training centres in the respective universities.

The universities where training centres will be established include University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila, Islamia University Bahawalpur Baghdad Campus, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Khawaja Farid University, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Chakwal, Comsats Wah Cantt, UET Lahore, University of Gujrat, Lahore College Women University (LCWU) and the Government College Women University Faisalabad.

The main objective of this programme is to lessen the unemployment and providing young professionals along with the essential means to earn an honourable earning online by associating along with institutes and organizations that share the same vision.

It is furthermore targeted at replicating its model of knowledge-based recruitment, which is credible internationally. It will guide network partners in executing the model.

The programme, the statement added, will give a platform to the people, including fresh graduates, to learn and apply their freelancing skills and will also unveil profitable career opportunities for the young generation.

The training centres would be established in more than 36 districts of Punjab. On the basis of the infrastructure available, freelancing training centres, co-working spaces are being established in each district.
