We would like to inform you of an important news, the HEC has announced the Law Graduate Assessment Test Law GAT 2024 to assess the eligibility of candidates who seek enrolment as an advocate with bar council. The HEC conducts the Law GAT test thrice every year. The aim of the Law Graduate Assessment Test is to confirm proper analysis and evaluation of a law graduate hopeful to join the legal profession so that only capable individuals having necessary basic knowledge of law may enter the legal profession for practicing law in Pakistan. That’s why individual hopes to join the Bar Council as an Advocate, he/she must clear this Law GAT test 2024 first. Law GAT Eligibility Criteria:
- Individual who have passed the undergraduate Law program (LLB) or equivalent from an HEC recognized university are eligible to apply.
- Students who are waiting for their results are not eligible to apply.
- Students with equivalent qualification must submit required equivalence certificates wile applying for this Law GAT Test.
Law GAT Test Type & Curriculum:
This HEC Law GAT test consists of total 100 multiple-choice questions, in accordance with the syllabus decided by PBC and HEC. The total marks of Law GAT Test 2024 will be 100 marks and candidates are required to achieve at least 50% marks to pass this test. Law GAT 2024 Date of Test
- The Law GAT test date 2024 has also been announced in the notification recently released by the HEC. The Law GAT test date for this year is 30th June 2024 (tentatively). Any changes in the Law GAT test date will be informed through HEC/ETC portals, emails and mobile SMS.
- Applicants who apply through HEC online processing method will be able to download their Law GAT roll number slip through HEC ETC portal at least a week before the test date. Email and SMS will be sent to applicants for test date, test time and exam hall details.
- All candidates are required to provide currently working email and mobile number while submitting online application form.
- A print of roll number slip and original CNIC/ Passport is required on test day to enter the test centre.
Law GAT Test Centre Details:
- Applicants can select any Law GAT test centre from the list available in the application form.
- Please note that the test will be held in any of the available test centre if at least 250 applicants select the same centre.
- Also note that test centre once selected will not be changed after registration.

Law GAT Registration Process:
The comprehensive Law GAT application process has been provided in the following for your convenience, students must follow these steps to successfully apply for the Law GAT 2024:
- Create an account by visiting the HEC ETC portal and begin your online Law GATregistration.
- Submit your name, CNIC card number, phone number and working email to create your account on that Law GAT online portal.
- After HEC ETC portal profile creating process, press the "Law GAT Test 2024" button from the side menu of your online portal.
- Incomplete applications or applications still in save mode will not be entertained. Only applications submitted within the deadline (30th June 2024) will be considered.
- After completing the Law GAT application, generate an online fee challan.
- Pay the Law GAT Test Fee of total Rs. 3000/- at banks that supports the 1Link 1Bill Invoice service.
- Alternatively, students can also submit their Law GAT Fee through online banking options, Easypaisa, Jazzcash, and Upaisa by using the 1Link 1Bill Invoice service.
- Candidates must also upload the copy of paid challan receipt of their fee to their online portal.
- Note that the test fee will non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.
- Click the “Submit” button, after uploading the fee challan copy to successfully submit your LAW GAT Test application.
Important Guidelines for Law GAT 2024:
- The LAW GAT test application last date is 4th June 2024 till 4:00 PM.
- The tentative date for LAW GAT Test is 30th June 2024.
- If there are any alterations to the test date, HEC will inform candidates through their online portal, SMS, and emails.
- Save your HEC LAW GAT Roll Number Slip from your HEC ETC online portal and your registered email address at least one week before the test.
- Bring your printed LAW GAT Roll Number Slip, original paid Fee Challan, and original CNIC on the test day to enter the exam centre.
- To clear the Law GAT, candidates need to score at least 50% marks. Also, candidates must follow the rules and regulations of the Pakistan Bar Council while sitting in the exam hall. Candidates have a maximum of seven chances to clear this test, which is conducted thrice every year by the HEC.
