Lahore: Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan has announced that the aspirants of two remaining programmes of the closed sub-campus in Lahore can get themselves registered by selecting one of the two options according to the instructions of Lahore High Court (LHC).

The BZU Multan had advised the aspirant’s of BZU Lahore to get them registered at Multan after the Lahore sub-campus was declared illegal.

The only students left without getting registered were of two programmes:

1.       BS Technology

2.       Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)

These students were earlier told that they will be registered later. Now, they will be registered according to the decision of court.

The university had given two choices to the aspirants of these two departments. The first is to register at University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore for DPT students while University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore for BS Tech and continue their studies at these institutes.

The second is the decision of BZU to approve and begin these programmes, which were being offered by the Lahore sub-campus just, and aspirants can then get themselves registered at BZU Multan.

But, those who will register at BZU Multan will have to begin their studies afresh.

The varsity is expected to have the proposal of the two new programmes approved before the end of this month in its syndicate meeting.

BZU has issued a form for the aspirants of DPT and BS Tech programmes on its websites and also advertised the decision in newspapers.

The students have been told to enroll with the university till January 20th, 2017 and can apply by submitting a demand draft of Rs1, 000/- in favour of the varsity.

The university also laid out the conditions for the aspirants who will be considered for registration and stated:

“Adoption of DPT and BS Tech at Multan will be subject to the decision of the syndicate scheduled to be held at the end of this month. The aspirants of the remaining disciplines who could not get themselves registered for continuing their studies at BZU main campus Multan may also apply for registration.”

In its decision on Monday, the court ordered the Punjab advocate general to present the original summary for permitting the establishment of BZU Lahore sub-campus. The court was told by the vice chancellor of BZU Multan that on or before January 23rd, 2017, the university will commence classes for the aspirants affected by the closing of the sub-campus and within a few days there will be an advertisement in newspapers.

Lahore BZU campus was established under public-private partnership in 2012. But, in 2015 the HEC declared the sub-campus illegal, saying it did not meet the minimum requirements set by the higher education commission.
