Lahore, Second phase of laptop distribution among brilliant student is expected to start from Dec 05, 2012 but it depends on the availability of Chief Minister Punjab. In this phase three modern laptops will be distributed among students.
In the 2nd phase both, morning and evening students would receive laptops simultaneously. The cost of a single laptop is approximately 38,000 which contained registered window system of MS Company. While in the first phase’s laptops were not contained registered windows. Overall 3.97 billion rupees were reserved in the budget for laptops.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced internships for 50, 000 students. He chaired a meeting to review the internship program for the students.
The meeting was attended by Senator Pervez Rasheed, Zaeem Qadri, Chairman PND and secretaries of the higher education.
Shahbaz Sharif while addressing the meeting said that internship letters have been forwarded to more than 30,000 graduates.
He said Chambers of Commerce and Industries will extend their support to the internees.
Speaking at the event, he said the program provided an opportunity to the youth of Pakistan, who have been unable to find employment despite relevant degrees due to lack of suitable experience. Addressing the youth particularly, he reminded them of the importance of their vote in the upcoming elections.
Sharif also said that Rs10 billion Punjab Educational Endowment Fund had been created, adding that thousands of students across the province were being provided scholarships through it.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said 125,000 laptops were distributed on merit among students during past years throughout the province and during the current year, over 100,000 more laptops are being distributed among students of morning and evening classes for which Rs 4 billion have been allocated.
