How to choose O Level Subjects

O LEVELS SUBJECT OPTIONS

In Pakistan subjects are bifurcated into Compulsory and Elective subjects according to Group offered to students. Students are usually required by schools to take up to a minimum of eight subjects at O’ Level. Either way you have to appear for five compulsory subjects. You have the option of taking up minimum of three electives. Electives are the subjects that you choose as your major subjects eventually.

The following subjects are compulsory subjects which is mandatory for students to pass and get equivalence certificate from IBCC, Islamabad.

Additional Mathematics – as 9th subject

Business/Commerce Group

Choosing the right combination is all about knowing your aptitude.

  • If you feel that you have always been fond of Biology and therefore, been scoring good grades, or if you aspire to become a doctor/biological researcher one day, then a student must opt for first set of combination.
  • Similarly, if mathematics has been the scoring subject for you, then you should definitely take up the Additional Mathematics along with, Physics and Chemistry combination. This goes for anyone who wants to be an engineer, a pilot, an architect or an astronaut.
  • On the other hand, if the business executive field attracts you, it is best for you to take up Business Studies, Economics, Accounting and Commerce.
