Gomal University is situated in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa. It is one of the oldest Universities of the province of KPK. It was established in 1974. It has departments of: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, ICIT, Economics, Physical Education, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Agriculture Chemistry, Entomology, Food Science Technology, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Soil & Environmental Sciences, Basic Sciences, Arts, Business Administration, Arabic & Islamiat, Commerce, Education and Research, English, Public Administration, Mass Communication, Political Science, Pharmacy, Basic Medical Science, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacogonsy, Engineering & Technology, Electrical Engineering (Telecom) and Telecommunication System.

Its foundation was laid by former prime minister of Pakistan, Zulifiqar Ali Bhutto. HEC has ranked Gomal University at 12th oldest University of Pakistan. It is considered as top higher education institutes of KPK. A large number of students are enrolled in the University. The campus of University is spread over area of 11000 Kn. The languages department of Gomal University is considered as most efficient and high standard. Saraiki language department was established in 2014 in the University. The University has proved to be a success by having served 44 years of academic services. It is the second largest public research University of KPK. The University has a total of 5700 student’s strength. It is affiliated with Higher Education Commission Pakistan, Pakistan Engineering Council, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Bar Council and Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council.
