Elementary and Secondary Education Department

The elementary and secondary education of Pakistan is consisted of preschool, primary, middle, secondary and intermediate departments. The curriculum has arts, computer Studies and ICT, general Science, Urdu and English, mathematics, religious Education i.e. Islamic Studies and social Studies or geography and history in few schools. All the rules and regulation of the elementary and secondary education of Pakistan resemble to British education system. BISE (Board of intermediate and secondary education) is responsible for exams and results. Pakistan is among low literacy rates countries. This department is working hard to raise literacy rate in Pakistan. Teacher training and on merit appointments is always top priority, the revision of syllabus, encourage more enrollments and providence of quality education is mission of the elementary and secondary education of Pakistan. The department has several functions such as, maintenance and repairs of schools, inspection and progress of ongoing projects, up-gradation of schools and teaching faculty. Pakistan comes second to Nigeria in terms of literacy rates.  The literacy rate is different in different regions. It is highest in Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan. The girl students participate less as compare to boy students all over Pakistan. Pakistan spent only 7% of its GDP on education in 2017. However, many international organizations are working closely to aid Pakistan in betterment of education system and building of new schools in rural areas.
