Yesterday, almost 494 graduates of the University of Peshawar (UoP) were granted the degrees at the annual convocation of the university for the academic session 2013.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan who is also chancellor of the government sector universities has given the degrees to the students. About 35 aspirants, also including 19 girls, were awarded with gold medals for their brilliant performance in their respective educational departments. 26 PhD while seven MPhil scholars were also granted with degrees on the event held yesterday.

 During his address in convocation, Sardar Mahtab congratulated the graduating students, their parents as well as their teachers. He said that “the achievement of the students has displayed their gratitude and a lot of respect towards their educational institute”.

The governor further added that the growth of the universities will be meaningless without focusing on the research, publication as well as on the development. He said “it is actually very good to know that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) ranking of the University of Peshawar has improved this year”.
