The KP government has closed the public and private educational institutions in the various districts. In this regard, a notification has been issued by the elementary and secondary education department regarding the closure of institutes in view of the prevailing situation of the coronavirus and according to the decisions taken in the meeting of the national command and operation Centre. The situation of coronavirus is being monitored regularly and the mentioned instructions will be reviewed in consultation with the provincial health department and NCOC.
Closure Of Educational Institutions
Moreover, the Home and tribes affair department government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa has also issued the directives to shut down the primary, middle, higher and higher secondary schools including cadet colleges, model schools, madrassas, academic, and tuition centers in the districts of Peshawar, Charsadda, Mohmand, Khyber, Mardan, Swabi, Dir lower, Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Dir upper, Buner, Bajur, Chitral upper, Chitral lower, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Batagram, Kohistan lower, Kohistan Kurram, Karak, Bannu, North Waziristan, and DI Khan. The districts where educational institutes have not been closed will continue to hold the classes according to the announced schedule. The SOPs and instructions regarding strict compliance have been also directed to the concerned authorities.
The Decision of Other Provincial Governments
The Sindh government has also announced to shut down the schools, colleges, and universities across the province due to the third wave of coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, the provincial government has also announced to ban the inter-provincial transport from 29th May in order to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Punjab government has issued the directive to close the educational institutes in areas that have more than a 5% coronavirus positivity rate. A notification has been issued by the school education department and as per the instructions the educational institutes in the various areas that include Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Okara, Bukhar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Jhang, Khanewal, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Toba Tek Singh. It is pertinent to mention here that the education ministers have announced that despite the closure of the educational institutes the exams will be conducted as per the issued schedule.
