Lahore, The Debating Society of Government College University (GCUDS) has won 265 oratory awards at different significant national and international competitions during the150th academic year and set a national record.
The declaration was made by GCUDS Annual Report 2013-14 given to Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman by GCUDS President Khawaja Yasin at the annual meeting of Society.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Khaleeq-ur-Rahman said by admiring the shining aspirants that these achievements are the part of worthy team and their efforts. Due to unique accomplishments the debating society has gotten this place. The VC reminded that the annual grant of GCUDS had been increased at the beginning of previous academic year.
On this occasion, he acknowledged the Ahmad Ch, Zahid Ali, Khakan Arshad, Hassan Haider Raza, Misbah Mukhtar, Adnan Nawaz, Muhammad Awais, Shahzad Khan, Hafiz Rehmat Ullah, Hassan Virk, Sana Mansoor, Ismail Sharwani and Khawaja Yasin for their worthy efforts to take the tally this high.
Later, a group photo with the VC and shinning students of GCUDS was taken and expected that in future they would uphold their exceptional position in competitions and remain the pride of their alma mater.
The Government College, Lahore got the status of a University in 2002 and became a seat for higher learning. It was renamed as the GC University Lahore. The GCU is working to enhance and promote quality of education across the country.
This Institution is one of the oldest seats of higher learning in the Muslim world. GC University joins old traditions and modern educational standards to meet the international standards established the by persons like Dr. Leitner, philosopher the poet, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and the Noble Laureate, Dr. Abdus Salam.
