Karachi, Hamid Zaman and his students of Boston University have introduced a detector for bogus and defective drugs swamping poorer countries. The major purpose of this initiative is to improve the medical care in the rising world.
At Boston College of Engineering, Hamid Zaman is an associate professor of biomedical engineering and also a columnist for The Express Tribune. But now he has gained fame. He is the first Pakistan and among the 15 professors in United States to get Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Professorships which is presented to researchers to lead advanced techniques for
undergraduate science education. A five-year $1 million grant is provided to each HHMI professor for professorship discussion.
The professorship aims to cater resources to research scientists taking steps to engage the undergraduate students in the arena of science and enable them to develop new models to deliver educational services in the field of science and research at universities, according to the HHMI website.
"Zaman said that he would upsurge the awareness regarding complex health challenges in developing countries especially in Pakistan and will take steps to develop stronger academic relations between students"
He further said that it would also give solutions for high-impact health challenges of the developing countries with latest techniques, innovation, context awareness and a different approach.
