Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif has announced that the distribution of free laptops on merit basis to talented students will be continued this year.  He announced this at the meeting held in Lahore under the direction of CM Punjab. The meeting highlighted the arrangements and provision of facilities to students. They decided to continue laptop distribution scheme and will be delivered to talented students in different phases.

In the 2nd phase more than 2 Lac laptops will be awarded on merit basis with an amount of 8.5 billion while in 3rd phase over 1 lac laptops will be provided to brilliant students and  Matric students will also be included in 3rd phase.

In the meantime, Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to eliminate the 2-Years Bachelors Degree Program and in place of BA, BSc and B.Com programs 4-Years BS degree program will be introduced for private students and HEC recognized institutes. After the approval of decision the 2-years degree program will be ended.

In this regard HEC has sent the notice to all the HEC affiliated institutes across the country.  After the approval of this plan, private BA candidates residing outside the country could not appear in the exams.

HEC officials made statement in favour of 4-years BS degree program and said that elimination of 2-years program is being made to provide the career opportunities to students. Students are facing career and job issues after getting the BA, BSc and B.Com degree.  Under the 4-year degree program students will get education under semester system.
