Lahore, A total of 56 FSc girl candidates have been selected for admission to three-years training course in the Nursing School of Lahore General Hospital and the first merit list of the selected candidates will be displayed on Thursday (today).

According to the information, Postgraduate Institute Principal and General Hospital Prof Dr Anjum Habib Vohra had directed the Nursing School administration that selected candidates should be informed through registered letters on their addresses.

Nursing School Principal Raees Ishtiaq said at least 1,600 candidates had submitted their applications for the training course.

She said the selected girls would have to submit their joining reports within a week otherwise their admission would stand cancelled and after that the second merit list would be displayed.

Ms Ishtiaq said the selected girls would be provided monthly stipend and free boarding and lodging facilities in the hostel during the training.

She said educational certificates of successful girls would be scrutinized and in case of fake certificates, their admission would be cancelled.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that education helps meet challenges including terrorism.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of an international conference “Misali Insaan and Misali Moashra” Tuesday, he said: “Pakistan can cope with challenges by adopting the approach of self-sufficiency.”

He said friendly relations exist between Pakistan and Turkey which are further strengthening. “Turkey has made exemplary progress by implementing the philosophy of Fethullah Gulen, which is not only for Turkey but also for Pakistan. Gulen has played a prominent role in making Turkey a modern society, ” he added. He said Turkey has become the 16th biggest economic power of the world, though it lacks gas and oil.

Shahbaz said such conferences led to promotion of sentiments of peace, tolerance and harmony in the society, he added. He said Turkey is such a brotherly country of Pakistan which has supported it in every hour of trial.

Similarly, Turk doctors, nurses, medical staff and persons belonging to other sectors of life instead of staying in hotels, spent their days and nights with Pakistani flood affectees in tents.

He said such moments could not be forgotten. He said Turkey Prime Minister visited every city of Turkey for collection of funds for their calamity hit Pakistani brothers and sisters and announced an assistance of 100 million dollars on behalf of the government.
