Graduate Assessment Test Subject (GAT):
Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) is part of NTS tests. NTS or National Testing Service was established in 2002. It is designed to evaluate the academic performance and assess eligibility of a candidate. The NTS tests are outlined on the pattern of Educational Testing Service in the United States. NTS is an independent organization and Pakistan’s first testing service. It conducts assessment tests for admissions and recruitments for public and private institutes and organizations.
The administrative and management of NTS is overseen by Board of directors. Graduate Assessment Test Subject (GAT) is for PhD courses and programs. It may also be used for recruitment of PhD graduates. The Subject test aims to assess, scrutinize and analyze a certain subject entirely. The candidates who want to improve their previous grades in Gat subject can also re-appear in the tests. It remains valid for recruitment and admissions for two years after passing it.

The Format of tests is in MCQs form. The papers are consisted of 30% General section, 70% Subject section, English (verbal) 15% and analytical reasoning comprises 15% of the exams. The tests are designed in a format to ensure the qualities of education standards in Pakistan are maintained. GAT is approved by all universities of Pakistan and passed candidates are preferred over other candidates. The transparency, effectiveness and efficiency of GAT tests are commended on national level; it has improved the overall education system in the country by introducing competency of the candidates for admissions and recruitments.
Over 36 Universities of Pakistan are associated to GAT Subject tests some of those are famous and world renowned Universities such as Comsat and UMT University Lahore. In 16 years of establishment, NTS has conducted over 7171 international and national tests for various admissions, recruitments and promotions in organizations.
