At DSU, for an undergraduate program, there are a total of 139 credit hours in 8 semesters to be completed in a time span of 4 years. Graduate programs takes around 2 to 3 years to complete and PhD programs comprises of a coursework of 18 credit hours, a research thesis of 36 credit hours, a proposal defense and a thesis defense.

Undergraduate Program

Eligibility

• Matric/O-level/SSC or an equivalent examination with at least 60% marks; and
• Intermediate/HSSC/FSc/A-level (Pre-Engineering) or an equivalent examination with at least 60% marks
• At least 50% marks in DSU Entrance Test

Graduate Programs

Eligibility

• The applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.5/4.0.
• The applicant must pass the NTS GAT (General) with a minimum cumulative score of 50% OR University-based GAT with a minimum cumulative score of 70% OR other such equivalent tests acceptable as per HEC guidelines.

Doctoral Programs

Program Requirements

Following are the general requirements of the PhD degree program:

• PhD Coursework: 18 Credit Hours
• PhD Comprehensive Exam
• PhD Proposal Defence
• PhD Research and Thesis: 36 Credit Hours (concluding in a Dissertation)
• Publication Requirements (a minimum of one publication in an HEC approved journal)
• Thesis Evaluation by Foreign and Local Experts
• Thesis Defence
