To attain Admission in bachelor’s degree a candidate has to follow some steps of the admission process. After the completion of an intermediate or equivalent study, the students are advised to start hunting for the University of their choice. The University offers their field of interest.
Firstly, the candidates have to get the admission forms by submitting the required amount which may vary among different universities. Secondly, the candidates are required to fulfill the criteria of the admission form. It usually contains some personal, previous educational background, and parents or guardian information. The candidates have to fulfill the entire form to avoid rejection due to an incomplete form. Various attested documents are also required with the admission form.
After the form completion, students have to submit the form within the due dates of the respective University. The admission process also includes an entry test and an interview with a particular university.
The BS Eligibility criteria to attain admission to any University for a bachelor’s degree include an intermediate or equivalent degree. A minimum mark of at least 50% is required for admission. The criteria of several universities may vary.
The BS Admission intake refers to the admission rounds in a year. There are two types of admission intakes: yearly and twice a year.
Yearly: Most Universities offer admission for bachelor's degrees only once a year
Twice a Year: The Universities that offer a semester system conduct admission in two rounds. First-round and main round is the (September) fall session and the second round is the (April) spring session.
Students can attain admission in any intake according to their availability and eligibility to the field and the University.
Entry Test is defined as the assessment test to grant admission to any particular candidate. There are various entry tests some are mandatory and some are optional. Entry Test is basically composed of different sections which include logical, analytical reasoning, general assessment, mathematics, English, etc. Some major entry tests are:
MDCAT is a major entry-level test that is conducted for admission in medical and health-related disciplines. MDCAT is mandatory to seek admission to undergraduate medical programs. Every year thousands of applicants undergo MDCAT. It is an objective type exam that has a minimum passing criteria of 50%. After which the merit lists decide the admission of every student.
Another important and prominent entry test is ECAT. It is the assessment for the bachelor's in engineering and some other disciplines. The paper pattern includes the objective type of questions. It is mandatory to acquire admission for BS engineering in Pakistan.
NTS is a National Testing Service that conducts entry-level tests known as NAT (National Aptitude Test) at various intervals throughout the year. NTS has different universities associated with them that consider NTS in their admission process. University of Management and Technology, Kinnaird College for Women University, University of Swat, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, International Islamic University, Islamabad, and many more are associated with NTS and consider NTS instead of their own entrance test.
Several universities have their own entrance test as part of the admission process. The test includes general questions for every subject. The candidates have to achieve a minimum of 50% marks for admission.
The BS merit list includes the list of all the successful candidates. These lists are notified by every university. The merit list is based upon the aggregate of several percentages of SSC, HSSC, or equivalent studies, and entry tests. There can be more than one merit list of any particular University depending upon the availability of the seats.
The BS fee structure depends upon the type of institute. There is a major difference between BS in public universities and BS in private universities. For instance, the fee structure of a BS in English at Punjab University is 132,896/- while the same degree of four years at a private institute (University of Management and Technology) is 749,000/-.
