The fasting month of Ramadan comes to an end and Muslims are preparing for the Eid-ul-Fitr. The date of the Eid depends upon the testimonies of local moon sighters.Later on the local religious authorities sight the moon of Shawwal and then declare Eid. If the moon is not noticeable, Ramadan continues for another day.

Uncertainty Over The Eid Celebrations

In Pakistan every year the uncertainty prevails over the Eid celebrations as there is a difference between the date announced by the Ruet-e- Hilal Committee and Qasim Khan Mosque in Peshawar. Even Pakistan could not celebrate the Eid on the same day due to the continuous conflict in the different announcements by the ulemas. This divides the nation and in the same country the Eid is celebrated on different days depending upon the areas.

Announcement Of Federal Minister Of Science And Technology

Fawad Chaudhry said, according to the calendar prepared by the ministry of science, the Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 24, 2020 in Pakistan. He furthermore added that in the growing era of technology there is no need to sight the moon to determine the date of the Eid. The technological advancements have made it easier and this year the Eid will be celebrated in many parts of the world such as Saudi Arabia, Malaysia Turkey, Qatar, and Indonesia on the same day as in Pakistan.

Press Conference Of Fawad Chaudhry

The federal minister of Science and technology in his latest press conference claimed that the moon of the Shawwal was born on May 22 at 10:30 pm and it will be visible tonight between 7.36 pm to 8.15 pm in Badin, Thatta, and Pasni. He also asked the people to download the Ruet app and check the location of moon.

Meeting Of Ruet-E-Hilal Committee

Despite the announcement of the Eid, the meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held today to sight the moon of Shawwal and to announce the Eid-ul-Fitr. Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman will chair the meeting and evidence will be collected from the respective provincial headquarters.

The Questions Arises About the Final Decision

Currently no one knows whether the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will announce the Eid or not. Following the trend of the previous year, this time also people have to wait about the final announcement of the Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman. Now the time will decide whether they both agree to celebrate the Eid on 24th May or the nation will divide and celebrate the Eid on different days.

Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays

The ministry of education notified about the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays that start from 22nd May and will continue to 27th May.
