When to send a thank-you letter after an interview? Always? Yes Always. Regardless of the circumstance, the position, or your level of interest in the opportunity, you should always send a thank you letter.
Follow-up or thank you letter is an important strategy to write to prospective employers. After you've been interviewed by an organization, follow up by writing a letter to each of the key people you met.
This letter has several purposes.
It's courteous - to express your appreciation for the meeting.
It enables you to convey your understanding of the company's key needs and your ability to fill them.
It reinforces your capability and advances your candidacy.
It's an excellent opportunity to express your interest in joining the organization.
It shows you are enthusiastic about working for them. Don't be concerned that stating your interest in joining the organization will result in a lower salary offer. It won't.
It's an opportunity so you can present an important piece of information that you may have omitted during the interview.
It's an excellent chance to discuss a point that you think may require clarification you believe the interviewer may have about something the two of you discussed.
