Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC)

Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) is non-profit governmental hospital. After much delay of its announcement of establishment in 2005, it finally started working in 2012. RIC has Rehabilitation, ETT, Electrophysiology, Laboratory/ Pathology, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac care Units, OPD, Emergency, Dental, Radiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography. It is serving the population of Rawalpindi, Potohar region, northern areas and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It is an initiative propounded and established by former Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr. Shahbaz Sharif and Former MNA of National Assembly Mr Hanif Abbasi. Cost of almost Rs.2.75 billions spent in its construction, the hospital is consisted of 50 departments and 272 – beds with 48-beds emergency department, 26 medical ventilators and five CT angiography machines (as mentioned by records of RIC official website).

This tertiary hospital was constructed to give treatment to patients of cardio vascular diseases, with modern techniques and facilities. The hospital has team of 285 employees including 60 doctors, 50 specialists, 90 nurses, 40 paramedical staff and 95 technicians. RIC’s administrative sections has biomedical department, Planning and Development, Purchase department, learning resource center (LRC), Library, IT department, Admin Department and Security Department. RIC is also involved with several academic training research programs with its affiliated colleges and universities. So far, RIC has treated patients with satisfactory services and care.
