Heavy Industries Taxila was established in 1971. It has worked tirelessly throughout its 47 years of being. Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) is the largest military contractors in Pakistan. The heavy industries have done promotion and construction of engineering work for military of Pakistan and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan. HIT undertakes heavy engineering work, defense, contracts of military and military corporations. It is also provides military gears, builds krytron and develops technology for solid-state lighting. HIT is consisted of four Directorates: Technical Directorate, Budget Directorate, Marketing and Procurement Directorate and Administration Directorate / Security Directorate.

HIT has produced Type 69-II – Main battle tank produced under license, Type 85-IIAP – Main battle tank produced under license and M113 – Armored personnel carrier produced under license formerly. Hit is currently working on production of main battle tanks (MBT) such as: Al-Khalid / Al-Khalid I and Al-Zarrar. It is also produced armored cars such Mohafiz – armored security vehicle based on the Land Rover Defender and currently Under development projects of armored cars include: 155 mm Self-propelled artillery gun – Project revealed at IDEAS 2002 defense exhibition, Al-Khalid II – Under development and Burraq MRAP vehicle – Under development. HIT is state owned enterprise and has been providing reliable and satisfactory services for many years. The main products of HIT are: Ammunition, Artilleries, Combat, Vehicles and Tanks.
