Lahore: Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has come hard on the regional government for handing over what it claims ‘brilliant performing’ schools to the private sector under the Public School Support Program (PSSP).
In a press release issued on Saturday, PTU leaders involving Syed Sajjad Kazmi, Rana Liaqat as well as others said the School Education Department had been saying that only low performing schools were being handed over to the private zone involving NGOs via Punjab Education Foundation. They mentioned a number of institutes of the provincial zone including Govt Girls Primary School (Asal Garah), Govt Girls Primary School (Barka Kalan) and Govt Girls Primary School (Farooq Colony) showing exceptional results in the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) exams were still being handed over to NGOs.
They questioned why the government wanted to hand over these schools when their performance was good?
