Islamabad: COMSATS Institute of Information Technology has sacked the services of pro-rector Haroon Rashid on bases of his plagiarized PhD thesis.
At first, Haroon Rashid was suspended from service on June 12th, 2016 after being found guilty of plagiarism accuses.
The PhD degree of Haroon Rashid was also cancelled by Preston University after the Islamabad High Court confirmed the truth of the charges against him.
During the meeting it was mutually agreed that Mr. Rashid will be given a personal hearing on June 17th, 2016. However, before that, he fled the country with his family and did not appear at the hearing organized on Friday. As a result, the COMSATS Board of Governors took the decision to dismiss his services because a valid PhD is a pre-requisite for the post of a pro-rector.
