Khwaja Fareed University Of Engineering & Information Technology Rahim Yar Khan

OVERVIEW:

To cater the underprivileged students of Punjab, Baluchistan and Sindh in seeking engineering and technology education, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab took an initiative. It was 22nd April 2014 when the foundation stone of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology was laid on Abu Dhabi Road, Rahim Yar Khan.

Undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs are offered in the disciplines of Engineering, management basic and social sciences at KFUEIT.

Scholarships and interest –free loans are awarded to the high achievers and needy students, A Scholarships Committee conducts the transparent distribution of the Scholarship. The university offers the following scholarships to needy and meritorious students: Need based, Merit, Fareed, Pakistan Baitul Mal, MORA, IEP – SAC (Saudi Arabia), scholarships.

History:

On 29th May 2014, Punjab Assembly has passed The Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology, Act initiating the legal functioning of the University. Four classrooms are hired on rent at the Government College of Technology and on 1st September 2014 a batch of 200 students equally divided in the four disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology began their first class at KFUEIT.

On 2nd September 2015, the first Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, joined the university. After a short period of its foundation the classes and administration were shifted to University’s own campus on Abu Dhabi Road in few renovated buildings. The Government of Punjab allotted 220 Acres of land and the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore has planned a budget of Rs. 3,847 Million to complete this university project. This budget was approved by the Planning & Development Board, Punjab for the Establishment of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

KFUEIT is continuously in a process of developing it’s out class infrastructure of modern buildings and other exceptional facilities. A perfect ICT infrastructure design is crafted to establish all sorts of information systems via open source technologies in no cost. .The multidisciplinarylibraryholdsbooks, periodicals, newspapers, manuscripts, films, maps, prints, documents, microform, CDs, videotapes, DVDs, e-books, audio books, databases. The collection is arranged in a sequence of classification numbers called system Dewey decimal classification. The university also offers hostel residing opportunity for students who live far away from the campus or city .These hostels have a capacity to accommodate about 400 male and female students. Hostels include a mess, TV Room, Study Hall, Mosque, Indoor games hall, internet accessibility, Tuck shop and other essential utility services are also available to the hostel residents. Moreover, the University has its own fleet of Buses/Coasters comfortable transportation of students.

Mission:

The basic mission of the university is to provide state of the art tertiary education to students from underdeveloped vicinities of Baluchistan, Punjab and Sindh, who cannot afford university level education due to rural backgrounds and lack of resources.

The clear cut vision of the university focuses an Engineering and Information Technology scenario that contributes to the development of national economy and raise the community lifestyle through high standard education .The students studying at KFUEIT would become a power house of intellectual and human capital generation.
