OVERVIEW:

Khushal khan Khattak University is a public sector university established in 2012 to cater the current educational standards in a higher education institute of Karak district .This tertiary education set- up was purposely built to provide comprehensive and up-to-date higher education for the local residents. This mode of education will help the students to participate in the ongoing struggle for seeking knowledge; to acquire solution based learning and to craft a society which is well-developed and can face the emerging social and economical problems.

Karak is a district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. It is situated to the south of Kohat District. A well-established university in Karak has been a much-awaited dream of the citizens. The aim of establishing the university is to bring positive changes in academic, personal and professional life of the students as well as to create a socially and economically stable society.

The university is conducting academics in the following disciplines: Education and Research, Computer, English, Library & Information Science, Material Physics and Nanotechnology, Geology, Bioinformatics, Management Science, Communication & Media Studies. Bachelors, Master’s and doctoral programs are offered in these disciplines with international standard curriculum and top notch faculty.

University, Karak has set up an Office of Research, Innovations & commercialization in 2015 with the aim of interconnecting university research with industries and markets to achieve social and economical goals of this country. The slogan of ORIC is "Envisioning, development of research, its commercialization and optimum utilization."

History:

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa laid the foundation of Khushal Khan Khattak University in October 2012.After a short span of time, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) issued the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the university.

The university is named after Khushal Khan Khattak, a legendary Pashtun poet, warrior, scholar, and the Khattak tribe of Pashtun’s leader. Khushal worked selflessly for the defense of his land and for the rights of his fellow citizens. He struggled hard to bring peace and prosperity in the nation.

Infrastructure:

The limited space has restricted the university to launch only eight departments. However, in the near future new projects will be developed with new campuses. The IT infrastructure however, delivers a fast pace campus network, serving the information and computing needs of teachers, research workers, administration officers and students. The IT infrastructure entails online learning materials and online digital library resources. Along with its own on-line library KKKU also connects the student with HEC National Digital Library (DL) to provide researchers, access to national and international scholarly literature based on electronic (online) delivery, peer-reviewed journals, databases, articles and e-Books across a wide range of disciplines.

Mission:

The KKKU aims to educate each and every citizen of Karak district. The university is always focusing in providing need-based education and training program. The university administration is striving hard to produce highly qualified professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders in their respective fields to play their effective role in the positive change. The university graduates will become qualified professionals. They will work as source of change and will work competently to participate in the growth of economy and society at large.

Thus, the vision is focused on dispensing quality education to the youth, equipping them with latest knowledge and skills, and lastly molding them into morally upright and responsive human resource.
