Frontier Women University - Peshawar

The Frontier Women University has been established by the Provincial Government of NWFP in order to provide right education to the female of NWFP and promote maturity of thought and professionalism in them, so that they better understand the new world and are able to compete in an effective manner. It is the first ever female university in NWFP, established under the Frontier Women University Act 2004, passed by the Provincial Assembly of NWFP on 5th October 2004 and assented by the Governor NWFP/Chancellor, Frontier Women University Peshawar, on 7th February 2005. Professor Dr. Syeda Farhana Jahangir has been appointed as the first Vice Chancellor and she has assumed her charge from the 10th of June 2005. A temporary campus has been provided to the university in a three story building within the premises of Government Frontier College for Women. This building is not spacious enough to accommodate a large number of students along with the administration. The Frontier Women University intends to be a leading Public Sector University in providing the affordable educational opportunities to the female students of this region to develop scientific ,socioculture and economic norms, while strengthening their identity at National and International level.

Academic Programs and Facilities

Frontier Women University makes available a wide range of academic programs designed to suit the requirements and aspirations of women students. The university also has its faculties such as Sociology, Economics, Business Administration, Education from which students complete Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Frontier Women University helps students gain an ideal approach to studies with the help of modern classrooms, laboratories, and a well-equipped library. The working staff is highly qualified and consists of active teachers aimed at developing all-round development of students to make them ready for the working environment.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Apart from their studies, Frontier Women University strongly supports the tradition of other activities apart from studies, especially community participation. The university host several events, workshops and seminars in order to improve the skills of the students and raise awareness on social issues. Organizations such as Frontier Women University also endeavors for good leadership among students by forming clubs which in turn, ensures that students practice the leadership in the community positively. Frontier Women University helps in building the confidence of women enhancing them to be active leaders as well as members of the society.
