Federal Urdu University Of Arts, Science And Technology (Fuuast) Karachi

The President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf promulgated the Ordinance (No. CXIX of 2002) under which the Federal University of Science and Technology (FUUAST) was established in November 2002.Thus according to the ordinance the principal seat of the FUUAST is in Islamabad. The idea and concept of using Urdu as a medium of instruction in a university was adopted from the Federal Urdu Science College, Karachi which was built in 1949 by Baba-e-Urdu Dr. Abdul Haq. After taking over this college, the FUUAST started functioning officially.

Academic Programs Offered

FUUAST Karachi offers a variety of programs to provide a wide range of student needs. This includes the following programs at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels in a wide range of disciplines. The university also offers programs in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences such as Urdu, English, Economics, and Political Science. In addition to the mentioned degrees, the Faculty of Science also provides degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science, the Faculty of Business Administration and Management, on the other hand, offers BBA, MBA, and related degrees. FUUAST has also engineering programs like Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering. These programs are aimed to equip students with skills and knowledge within their respective professional and learning spheres.

Facilities and Activities

The university includes spacious classrooms, computer labs, and libraries to enhance student learning. In addition to academic resources, it also includes athletic facilities, such as sports fields and student event spaces, to encourage extracurricular activities. In addition to academics, FUUAST promotes student participation in diverse cultural events, sports competitions, and student run organizations, which contribute to coming into leadership roles and creating a sense of community. Extracurricular activities in the university along with personal growth of the students are given emphasis so that students are not only trained theoretically but also are ready to face the outside world.
