Dawood University Of Engineering & Technology Karachi

There is no doubt that Dawood University is one of the most premium prestigious higher education institution of Karachi. The former President of Pakistan (late) Muhammad Ayub Khan laid down the foundations of Dawood College of Engineering & Technology in 1962. Two years later, (1964) The Dawood Foundation took the initiative under the leadership of Seth Ahmed Dawood to build Dawood College. In 2013, when the Sindh Assembly promulgated Sindh ACT No. XII, the college was upgraded to the status of a University. The Dawood University of Engineering & Technology is relatively new but a significant addition to the field of higher education.

Dawood University is authorized to award four year degree programs in the field of engineering and a five year degree program in the field of architecture to the students. The Engineering Department is well established and comprises of Electronic, Chemical, Industrial, Management Metallurgy and Materials department. Lately, a couple of new departments have been introduced by this faculty.

The well-known University owns two purpose built campuses at the heart of Karachi. One of the campus is situated near Quaid-e Azam Mausoleum, whereas the other is located at Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The Dawood University is an easy access to its students, faculty and administration. Both campuses are example of sate of the art infrastructure and design. The campuses are well built to fulfill the educational, co-curricular and extra-curricular requirements of the pupil. The classrooms are well lit and cross ventilated. The libraries are well resourced and house thousands of books, researches, publications etc. Laboratories which are present on the campus are well-equipped with modern and latest gadgets and technologies. The university contains a large and spacious auditorium which can accommodate around 650 students. The students are facilitated with common rooms, drawing rooms and cafeterias.

A fleet of buses ply between campuses and designated spots for the ease and convenience of the students. The students are provided hands on learning experiences. The university believes to provide practical applications along with theoretical knowledge. Therefore, the pupil of Dawood University are provided regular opportunities to visit and practice in the industrial areas.. As the university is situated in Karachi the industrial hub of Pakistan. The university benefits from its location. Students are allowed to do internships and projects in industries and training plants to acquire hands on learning experience.

A research Centre has been recently set up at DUET that will promote innovation, creativity and research based learning in the students.

Back in 2009, a Quality Enhancement Cell was built in the university to ensure quality and progress programs in all faculties and departments of DUET.
