Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan is located at the prime location in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This area is considered to have a rich history of civilizations, culture and traditions. The area was known for its civilians being dedicated to education and research. However, due to the intervention of belligerent tribes and clans from different parts of the world, this exquisite heritage of learning couldn’t continue.

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken an important step in reviving the old tradition of learning by establishing Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan in order to provide Alma Mater to the students and young scholars looking for an opportunity to learn, grow, educate and research. Tahdhib al Afkar is the trilingual (English, Urdu, Arabic) biannual research journal of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan which publishes papers in the field of Islamic Studies and Arabic. The journal encourages the authors and researches to publish their papers related to the Socio-Religious issues. Other journals published by AWKUM include Pakhtunkhwa Journal of Life Science. PJLS is broad based journal and covers various disciplines of life sciences, such as Biochemistry, Biomaterials, Biopolymers, Botany, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Microbiology and Zoology.
