Many people fast longer hours than others

A lot of people fast longer hours as compared to the other people. This is actually based on the location where you live. For the Muslims, living in Australia, they are expected to fast for a little more than nine hours although the Muslims in Sweden are expected to fast for more than twenty hours. On the other hand, Nigerians expected to fast for over fourteen hours. Pakistanis are fasting for almost sixteen hours.

As we all know that Ramadan belongs to Muslim calendar which is a lunar calendar, the date is just not fixed. Basically the lunar month is ten or eleven days smaller as compared to the Gregorian calendar. Thus, Ramadan comes 11 days earlier each year and requires approximately three years to turn back a month.

Health benefits

Fasting in Ramadan contains health benefit. According to the research, done in 1997 in the Annals of Nutrition Metabolism, fasting lessened the Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) or bad levels of cholesterol at the rate of almost 8 percent, triglyceride by 30 percent, and enriched good cholesterol or High Density Cholesterol (HDL) levels at almost 14.3 percent and hence protecting your heart health from heart disease.
