Aliha Nasruallah, a dental student studying in New York, is one of a gem of Pakistan who have dedicated herself to the rehabilitation of Pakistan.
Back in her A-levels, almost 5 years ago, she was attending a Model United Nations events at LUMS, when out of nowhere she collapsed and had to be taken to a hospital due to the unbearable pain. The doctors had no idea about the diagnosis. She was dragged from one hospital to another.
While getting discharged from the hospital, she saw a family who were sitting on the bare floor and had no money left to take their tiny infant to a good hospital. At the time, she was motivated to establish an organization of her own.
Since 2012, she is trying to help the poor people. They started off with their annual toy drive in 2012 where, they would take 750 goody bags to Children’s hospital on the first day of Eid. Then in 2014, they prepared family food packs and medicines for the drought victims in Thar that catered 350+ families for an entire month. After Thar, in 2015 they started working on their monthly distribution of food for widows in Kotha pind in Model town. They helped 500+ families over there.
Then after so much of struggle, Barkat foundation came in being the place that would be helping myriad deprived patients through free medical camps. It is a small non-profit organization which provide free healthcare to the underprivileged in rural areas in Pakistan. They make medical service accessible to those who are deprived of it.
Aliha with her team is trying hard for the betterment of the medical standards. She said that it is extremely inspiring to see hope in someone’s life. She also said that she is a nobody, but nobody with huge dreams in her pocket and a passion to help poor people.
