VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF VICE CHANCELLOR

The Government of Sindh invites applications from renowned academicians, accomplished and motivated academic leaders, and dynamic professionals possessing managerial and financial leadership skills for the position of Vice Chancellor at Government College University, Hyderabad.

Eligibility Criteria

The Vice Chancellor of the University shall be appointed by the Chief Minister on the recommendations of the Search Committee in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Search Committee Act, 2022 (Sindh Act No. II of 2022). The appointment shall be for a period of four years, extendable for one additional term of four years, on such terms and conditions as the Chief Minister may determine. The candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience, and meet the specified age criteria:

Academic & Professional Qualifications:
- Must be an eminent academician and eligible for the position of a full Professor.
- Must hold a Ph.D. from an HEC-recognized university/institute in a relevant field.
- Must have a minimum of 20 years of experience, including at least 10 years of administrative, financial, and academic experience in positions such as Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Registrar, or Principal in any University/Degree Awarding Institute/College, or in BPS-17 and above (or equivalent) in the public sector or a reputable national/international private organization.
Alternative Eligibility:
- A cadre officer of BPS-21 or above, holding a Master’s Degree from an HEC-recognized university/institute.
- Candidates holding a Master’s degree (preferably a Ph.D.) in the relevant field, with 15 years of experience in academia, intelligentsia, civil society, research, or management leadership. Additionally, they must possess a distinguished research and publication record, with at least 10 publications in HEC-recognized journals.
Age Limit:
- The candidate shall not be more than 62 years of age on the last date of applying for the position.
- A cadre officer applying based on their civil service experience must resign or seek retirement from their respective cadre service upon selection as Vice Chancellor.

Promote quality education.
Encourage research and development projects.
Establish national and international linkages with industries and renowned institutions.
Develop sustainable business models for the university.
Conduct data gathering and analysis of various industrial sectors to inform policy-making.

Job Skills Required

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Exceptional written, spoken, and presentation skills.
Ability to collect, differentiate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
Sound understanding of financial matters and budget mechanisms.
