VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF LARKANO
The Government of Sindh invites applications from renowned academicians, accomplished and motivated academic leaders, and dynamic professionals with managerial and financial leadership skills for the position of Vice Chancellor, University of Larkano.
The Vice Chancellor of the University shall be appointed by the Chief Minister on the recommendations of the Search Committee in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Search Committee Act, 2022 (Sindh Act No. II of 2022). The appointment will be for a period of four years, extendable for one additional term of four years, on terms and conditions determined by the Chief Minister. The candidate must meet the following qualifications, experience, and age criteria:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
Must be an eminent academician qualified to be a full Professor.
Possess a Ph.D. from an HEC-recognized university/institute in a relevant field.
Have a minimum of 20 years of experience, including at least 10 years of administrative, financial, and academic experience in positions such as Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Registrar, or Principal in a university, degree-awarding institute, or college, OR in BPS-17 and above (or equivalent) in a public sector or a reputable national/international private organization.
Alternative Qualifications for Civil Service Candidates:
Must be a cadre officer of BPS-21 or above.
Hold a Master’s degree from an HEC-recognized university or institute.
Alternative Criteria for Distinguished Candidates:
Hold a Master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D., in the relevant field.
Have at least 15 years of experience in academia, research, civil society, or management leadership roles.
Possess a distinguished research and publication record, with at least 10 publications in HEC-recognized journals.
Age Limit:
The candidate must not be more than 62 years old on the last date of application submission.
A cadre officer applying based on civil service experience must resign or seek retirement from their respective cadre service upon selection.
Promote quality education.
Encourage research and development projects.
Establish national and international linkages with industries and renowned institutions.
Develop and implement a sustainable business model.
Conduct data gathering and analysis across various industrial sectors for research to inform policy-making.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Exceptional written, spoken, and presentation abilities.
Ability to collect, differentiate, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data.
Understanding of financial matters and budget mechanisms.
No TA/DA will be provided for the interview.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.
