VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF VICE CHANCELLOR

The Government of Sindh invites applications from renowned academicians, accomplished and motivated academic leaders, and dynamic professionals possessing managerial and financial leadership skills for the position of Vice Chancellor, NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.

Eligibility Criteria

The Vice Chancellor of the University shall be appointed by the Chief Minister on the recommendations of the Search Committee in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Search Committee Act, 2022 (Sindh Act No. II of 2022) for a period of four years, which may be extended for one additional term of four years, on such terms and conditions as the Chief Minister may determine. The candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience, and age requirements:

Academic Qualifications & Experience:
- An eminent academician qualified to be a full Professor with a Ph.D. from an HEC-recognized university/institute in a relevant field.
- Registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
- A minimum of 20 years of experience, including 10 years of administrative, financial, and academic leadership in positions such as Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Rector, Registrar, or Principal in a University/Degree Awarding Institute/College OR in BPS-17 & above or an equivalent position in a public sector or a reputable national/international private organization.
Alternative Eligibility Criteria:
- A cadre officer of BPS-21 or above, having a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in any discipline from an HEC-recognized university/institute.
- Candidates with a Master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D., in a relevant field and 15 years of experience in academia, research, intelligentsia, civil society, or management leadership positions with a distinguished research and publication record, as prescribed by the rules.
Age Limit:
- The candidate must not exceed 62 years of age on the last date of application submission.
Conditions for Cadre Officers:
- The cadre officer applying on the basis of his experience in civil service, upon selection as Vice Chancellor, will have to resign or seek retirement from his respective cadre service, as the case may be.

Responsibilities of the Vice Chancellor

Promote quality education and ensure academic excellence.
Encourage research and development projects in the university.
Establish national and international linkages with industries and renowned institutions.
Plan and implement a sustainable business model for the university.
Collect and analyze data from various industrial sectors to apply research outcomes to policy-making.

Job Skills

The candidate must possess the following skills:

Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Exceptional written, spoken, and presentation skills.
Ability to collect, differentiate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
Proficiency in financial matters, including budget mechanisms.
