LAHORE ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY (LESCO)

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE), operates a power distribution network and supplies electricity to more than 6.88 million valued consumers in the approved geographic territory of Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana.

LESCO is seeking the services of an experienced, dynamic, and result-oriented professional to work as Chief Internal Auditor as part of its senior management team. The ideal candidate should possess the relevant skills and capabilities to take on this challenging role.

Responsibilities and Skills

The Chief Internal Auditor, as the head of the internal audit function, shall:

Have unrestricted access to financial records and ensure their sanctity.
Report to the Audit Committee and be accountable to the Board of Directors.
Evaluate accounting, financial, credit, and operational activities as an independent appraisal function.
Ensure effective financial resource management.
Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy, and application of accounting, financial, and operational controls.
Formulate internal audit programs ensuring thorough audit coverage.
Supervise company operations, personnel reviews, and compliance with policies and procedures.
Verify audit evidence, record audit observations, and provide practical, cost-efficient recommendations to the Audit Committee.
Develop a competent team of subordinates for effective discharge of their duties.
Undertake special investigations as directed by the Audit Committee or Board of Directors.
Liaise with external and commercial auditors of the company.

Required Skills

Broad knowledge of business processes with strong technical acumen in financial, legal, and regulatory compliance governing the electricity distribution sector.
Leadership capabilities to foster an engaged and committed team environment.
Ability to collaborate with all departments and oversee compliance.
In-depth understanding of accounting, financial, and credit operations for effective independent appraisals.
Expertise in financial resource management to implement efficient audit practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Member of a recognized professional accounting body.
10 years of relevant experience in audit and/or risk management, including:
- Designing internal control procedures.
- Ensuring compliance and financial reliability.
- Experience in public/private sectors, preferably State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) or public sector projects.
Strong business acumen, judgment, and experience in an ERP environment.
Familiarity with internal audit functions, control systems, and senior management and Board-level interactions.
Must comply with Fit & Proper Criteria as prescribed in the State-Owned Enterprise Act, 2023.

Remuneration & Contract Period

Market-based competitive salary package aligned with the candidate’s qualifications and experience, as decided by the Board of Directors.
Initial contract: 3 years, extendable based on satisfactory performance.
Annual performance evaluation conducted by the Board of Directors based on agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Age Limit

Up to 57 years as of the closing date of the advertisement.
