Job Opportunity: Fire Safety Engineer

Organization: Health and Safety Accord (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of International Accord BV, Netherlands.
Locations: Karachi & Lahore (with travel across Pakistan)

About the Role

We are seeking suitably qualified candidates for the position of Fire Safety Engineer. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with the Pakistan Accord Building Standard and enhancing fire safety in the garment and textile industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Factory Inspections: Conduct factory inspections to assess existing fire life safety provisions and identify gaps in compliance with the Pakistan Accord Building Standard.

  • Reporting: Produce inspection reports in accordance with Pakistan Accord protocols.

  • Remediation Advice: Review and provide guidance on proposals by factories and their consultants for remediation actions.

  • Engineering Support: Provide engineering advice and support to factories and consultants on fire safety systems in existing buildings.

  • Program Contribution: Support the Accord’s inspection and remediation program and its training initiatives.

  • Follow-Up Inspections: Conduct necessary follow-up inspections to monitor remediation progress and ensure plans are finalized within Accord timelines.

  • Escalation: Alert Accord leadership to issues, obstacles, or challenges in finalizing and executing remediation/corrective action plans derived from Accord safety inspections.

  • Additional Tasks: Perform other related duties as assigned by Accord leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Architecture.

    • Additional certifications such as NFPA-CFPS or NFPA-CFI are advantageous.

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of demonstrated work experience in applying fire safety design codes in buildings.

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Strong knowledge of relevant national and international fire life safety standards and codes.

    • Proficiency with engineering software and tools relevant to the field.

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in written and spoken English.

  • Technical Skills: Exceptional technical report writing skills.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation abilities.

  • Professionalism: High level of integrity, honesty, work ethics, and commitment to the goals of the Pakistan Accord.
