DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR
(TECHNICAL/OPERATIONS)

Our client is a large energy sector company in Pakistan, engaged in refining, transportation, and marketing of petroleum products across the country. To further strengthen its technical team and enhance its multifaceted operations, the Company is seeking to induct a high-calibre technical leader.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the position of DMD (Technical/Operations) will be responsible for company-wide operational results and shall play a lead role in planning and execution of the expansion of projects. The incumbent shall be a member of the Company's Executive Committee.

Functional Profile:

The position requires a seasoned oil & gas professional, an engineer and a business graduate, who has made a name for himself in the energy sector. With a proven track record of leading diversified petroleum operations essentially including a complex refinery having primary and secondary processing units, the incumbent shall be expected to make substantial improvements in O&M results, technical standards, project achievements and HSE practices.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic technical leadership and set Company's new direction in view of changing business environment
  • Manage the Company's diversified petroleum operations and lead a large team of engineers, technologists and professionals of diverse specializations and backgrounds
  • Plan and implement business, technical, production and operations strategies aimed at maximizing efficiency and financial returns
  • Ensure safe and environment-friendly operations in accordance with international best practices and implement international benchmarking systems to define improvements in systems and procedures
  • Ensure integrity of all plants, equipment, utilities and infrastructure at all locations.
  • Plan and manage plant turnarounds
  • Supervise engineering projects and ensure their completion within time and budget.
  • Interact and negotiate with plant and technology suppliers, contractors, consultants, etc.
 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, preferably with a postgraduate degree in Business or Management
  • Minimum 20 years' experience in downstream petroleum industry including at least five (5) years in a lead operations role at a large, complex refinery.
  • Sound knowledge of petroleum refining processes, maintenance requirements and a good understanding of refinery economics
  • Knowledge and expertise in implementing Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Knowledge of Project Management including scope definition, cost and benefit evaluation, contracting and procurement, project planning and implementation, and commissioning
  • Should not be above 57 years of age.
