Advertisement for the Position of Chief Internal Auditor at LESCO

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), a prominent state-owned enterprise serving the cities of Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana, invites applications for the position of Chief Internal Auditor. The selected candidate will join LESCO’s senior management team and contribute to the company’s operational and financial oversight.

Position Responsibilities:

The Chief Internal Auditor will have the following key responsibilities:

• Head the internal audit function with unrestricted access to the company’s financial records.
• Report directly to the Audit Committee and be accountable to the Board of Directors.
• Evaluate accounting, financial, and operational activities independently.
• Ensure the effective management of financial resources.
• Review and assess the adequacy and application of accounting, financial, and operational controls.
• Formulate internal audit programs to cover all financial transactions.
• Supervise the company's functions in alignment with organizational objectives.
• Develop an effective team of subordinates with the necessary competence to discharge their responsibilities.
• Liaise with external auditors and the commercial auditing team.
• Conduct special investigations as directed by the Audit Committee or Board of Directors.

Required Skills and Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of business processes and a thorough understanding of financial, legal, and regulatory compliance in the electricity sector.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to foster a conducive working environment.
• In-depth understanding of accounting, financial, and operational activities necessary for independent appraisals.
• Ability to oversee compliance and regulatory oversight across all departments of the company.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A member of a recognized professional accounting body (CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or MBA in Finance).
• At least 15 years of relevant post-qualification audit experience, with at least 5 years at a senior level in a large public sector organization.
• Comprehensive knowledge of national and international audit standards for the power sector.
• Strong business acumen, leadership abilities, and experience interacting with senior management.

Age Limit: Candidates must be under 57 years of age as of the closing date of the advertisement.

Remuneration & Contract Period:

• The salary package will be decided by the Board of Directors, based on qualifications and experience.
• The initial contract will be for 3 years, extendable based on satisfactory performance, with an annual evaluation against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
