VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) is a state-owned enterprise operating under the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division, Government of Pakistan. PMDC is responsible for the exploration, mining, and marketing of various minerals.

PMDC invites applications for the following position on an open contract basis with a competitive market package:

Position:
Chief Geologist (Geo Science)

Qualification:

  • Master’s degree with 16 years of education in Geology or a relevant field from a Higher Education Commission recognized University.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification relevant experience.
  • Preference will be given to professionals with a proven track record in leading and driving mineral exploration within the mining industry.
  • Must possess experience in exploration and evaluation of mineral resources using the latest techniques and software.

Age Limit:

  • Maximum 50 years

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and coordinating geological exploration activities to identify and evaluate potential mineral deposits.
  • Managing resource estimation processes to assess the size, grade, and economic viability of mineral deposits.
  • Ensuring the proper collection, storage, and analysis of geological data to support decision-making processes.
  • Overseeing geotechnical studies to assess the stability and integrity of mine structures, including pit walls, waste dumps, and underground workings.
  • Contributing to the development of exploration strategies and targets based on geological interpretations and regional geological knowledge.
  • Participating in due diligence assessments for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, or investment opportunities.
  • Preparing technical reports, including exploration reports, resource estimation reports, and geological interpretations for internal use and regulatory compliance.
  • Providing guidance, mentoring, and training to junior geologists and technical staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in geological exploration and resource estimation.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and environmental standards related to geological exploration and resource development.
