Surah Al Mumtahinah

In this forbidden verse 10 of this surah al mumtahinah, it has been ordained that the, girls who intended to migrate to Dar al-Islami (the Islamic nation) and who wants to pledge their loyalty as Muslim women must be searched hence the on title al-Mumtahinah. The word is reported both as Mumtahinah and as Mumtahinah, the meaning according to the first pronunciation being "the Surah which examines", and in step with the second one, "the woman who's tested."

The Surah deals with two incidents, the time of the occurrence of which is widely known traditionally. The first relates to Hadrat Hatib bin Abz Balta'a, who, a little before the conquest of Makkah, had dispatched a mystery letter to the Quraish chiefs informing them of the Holy Prophet's intention to attack them. The second pertains to the Muslim girls, who had started emigrating from Makkah to Madinah, after the belief of the Truce of Hudaybiya, and the trouble arose whether they also have been to be returned to the disbelievers, like the Muslim men, in keeping with the situations of the Truce. They point out without a doubt that this Surah got here down in the course of the interval between the Truce of Hudaibiyah and the Conquest of Makkah. Besides, there's a 3rd factor additionally that has been referred to at the top of the Surah to the effect; What need the Holy Prophet (upon whom be Allah's peace) make the girls to pledge while they come to take the oath of allegiance before him as believers? Approximately this component also the wager is this too become dispatched down sometime earlier than the conquest of Makkah, for after this conquest a big number of the Quraish women, like their men, had been going to go into Islam concurrently and needed to be administered the oath of allegiance together.

This Surah has three parts:

The primary part consists of vv. 1-9, and the concluding verse thirteen also relates to it. This sturdy exception has been taken to the act of Hadrat Hatib bin Abi Balta'a in that he had tried to inform the enemy of a completely crucial warfare secret of the Holy Prophet (upon whom be Allah's peace) simplest for the sake of safeguarding his family. This would have induced incredible bloodshed during the conquest of Makkah had it now not been made ineffective in time. It would have fee the Muslims many treasured lives; among the Quraish might have been killed, who were to render high-quality services to Islam afterward; the gains that were to accrue from conquering Makkah peacefully could have been misplaced, and a majority of these extreme losses could have resulted only due to the fact one of the Muslims had desired to shield his own family from the dangers of warfare. In this overestimate and by this extreme warning at it Imam Allah has left precisely what the believers in no uncertain terms, that no believer should and under no circumstances and for no reason at all have love and friendship with these anti-Islamic unbelievers and a believer must avoid all things that could be helpful to them in the struggle between Islam and disbelief. However, there's no harm in dealing kindly and justly with the disbelievers, who might not be nearly engaged in antagonistic activities against Islam and persecution of Muslims.

The second component consists of vv. 10-11. In this social trouble has been settled, which became agitating the minds at that time. There have been many Muslim ladies in Makkah, whose husbands were pagans; however they had been emigrating and reaching Madinah by some means. Likewise, there were many Muslim guys in Madinah, who's better halves were pagans and had been left at the back of Makkah. The question arose whether the marriage bond among them persevered to be valid or no longer. Allah settled this trouble forever, saying that the pagan husband isn't lawful for Muslim women, nor is the pagan spouse lawful for Muslim husbands. This choice results in very crucial legal effects, which we will explain in our notes beneath.

The 1/3 section consists of verse 12, in which the Holy Prophet (upon whom be Allah's peace) has been instructed to invite the ladies who accept Islam to pledge that they would chorus from the foremost evils that had been standard most of the womenfolk of the pre-Islamic Arab society and to promise that they might henceforth follow the methods of goodness which the Messenger of Allah may additionally enjoin.
