surah kahf is the 15th chapter of the Quran with 110 lyrics. Regarding the timings and the background of contextual revelations, it is an early Meccan Surah, which means it was revealed in Mecca, instead of Madina. surah al kahf is named 'The Cave' and thus named as the story about the People of the Cave. The Story of the people of the cave (A Trial of Faith)
- This story is about several young men who were driven out of their homes because they believed in Allah. They ended up in a cave where Allah made them sleep for many years (309 lunar years which is 300 solar years). When they woke up they felt they had slept for a day or half of the day. One of them went to the town to get some food disguising him thinking that the people would recognize and harm him. Only to find himself amongst different people. The people of the town were amazed at the entries of this man and the ancient money he was using. The story shows us how Allah protects the rightists who believe in Him no matter their situation. The biblical version ‘The Seven Sleepers of Ephesus’ is given, whereas the verses in Quran don’t say whether the number of those who took refuge in the cave was seven, five, or some other numbers.
The Story of the Man Who Owns Two Gardens and Who Owns Two Gardens – A Trial of Wealth
- This is a story about a man who owned two beautiful gardens, but he becomes arrogant and tells his friend “I have the grandeur of you in wealth and have more servants and attendants and children!” (Qur'an 18:34). This story is a lesson to those who take worldly stuff for granted and forget that all they have is from Allah and He is capable of taking all away if he wishes.
The Story of Musa and Al-Khidr – A Trail of Knowledge
- Prophet Muhammad said: "At the beginning, Moses addressed Bani Israel with a trial meaning 'can anyone hear me’. He was asked who the most learned man amongst the people was. He said: “I.” Allah reprimanded him as he did not attribute absolute knowledge to Him (Allah). So, Allah told him: “Yes, at the junction of the two seas there is a slave of mine who is more learned than you.” Moses said: “O my Lord! How can I meet him?” Therefore God told Moses that he should go in near the meeting of two seas; there he would find a servant of God whom we had been guided to call “Al-Khidr”-“The Green One”. Musa goes on a journey with Al-Khidr where he learns that Allah bestows his knowledge on whoever he wishes. Allah’s knowledge is beyond the limited capacity of the human mind, therefore nobody should ever feel he/she is the most intelligent or powerful in the world. Hence, Al-Khidr said, “And I did not of my own accord” (Qur'an 18:82).
Dhul Qarnayn's story (A Righteous King) – A Test of Strength.
- Al-Taghuteen was the name of the ruler, who was an excellent and righteous king, and who went for a trip from the West of the earth to the East of the earth. The Qur'an mentions 3 of his voyages. On the way, at last he comes to a spot between two hills and therein he sees a group of people. They ordered him to build a barrier between them and the evil-bringers of Gog and Magog “Al-Jinn and Al-Jinn Jinn '', - Who caused trouble in the region. Dhull Qurnayn agreed to do so. Dhul Qurnayn was not proud of his achievements, and the Quran mentions that after he built a great wall, “He said: ‘This is mercy from my Lord. But when the promised of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it level (with the ground), and the promised of my Lord is ever true’.” (Quran 18: 98) The Prophet teaches us that “Whoever reads Surah - Kahf on Fight-day, She will bestow upon him light between those two Fridays.”
Surah Kahf Verses

Bestow on us Mercy from you, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!” When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: “O Our Lord! Bestow your mercy upon us by letting us and provide us the guidance to do good in all our deeds. ”
