Lahore: Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) and WWF-Pakistan signed an agreement to promote environmental education among the youth of Pakistan. Through this signed MoU, both organizations will establish formal relationship for the promotion of environmental awareness and tackle the environmental challenges via innovative research.
Furthermore, the two organizations will cooperate to develop joint research tenders. The MoU signing ceremony was organized at MA Jinnah Campus of university in which Rector of Virtual University Dr Naveed A.Malik, Director General of WWF-Pakistan Hamid Naqi Khan were also present.
According to the signed MoU, VUTV will also show the documentaries of WWF on its TV channels. Both groups agreed to engage the apsirants in different environmental awareness initiatives of WWF-Pakistan involving the eco-internship programme, youth development programme, volunteer engagement initiative, Earth Hour as well as nature carnival.
Virtual University and WWF will also arrange joint seminars and workshops to mark the environmentally important days at the campuses of varsity together with the capacity building and exposure events for the virtual university aspirants and faculty.
WWF-Pakistan will explore the possibility to exploit the curriculum of the short-courses on various environmental matters involving the green office certification programme, in association with the VU. The ceremony ended on a positive note as well as the conviction that the agreement signed will provide the significant mutual benefits to both the organizations and that all possible efforts will be made to make the MoU as much prolific as possible.
