University of Health Science names its Anatomy department after late professor

Lahore: University of Health Sciences (UHS) has named its Anatomy Department after the late varsity’s professor Dr Muhammad Tahir.

As per the details, Prof Tahir remained a professor as well as the head of University of Health Sciences Anatomy Department for 11 years. On Wednesday he dies at the age of 87 years, bringing to an end a creative, 65 year career as a teacher, a researcher as well as officer.

His exceptional work in all these regions was recognized by a highly original critical thinking and personal vision of morals and ethics.

A memorial service for Prof Muhammad Tahir was organized at the university on Thursday, which was attended by the vice chancellor of university of health sciences Prof Dr Junaid Sarfraz Khan as well as the large number of faculty members and aspirants.

On this event, Quran Khwani was held and the vice chancellor of university led the dua for the departed soul.

Rich tributes were paid to the late professor by his colleagues, who said that the services of the dead for the university could not be forgotten.

At the end, the vice chancellor of university Prof Dr Junaid Sarfraz Khan planted a banyan tree at Kala Shah Kaku Campus of the varsity in the memory of late Prof Dr Tahir.

Prof Dr Tahir was a graduate of King Edward Medical College Lahore. He did his MBBS in 1952 along with the gold medal for securing first position in the university.

He taught in different national and international institutions. He did his PhD from London University and has over 50 research publications to his credit.
