FAISALABAD: The Art Club of the Senior Tutor office, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has organized a charity show "Umeed" at Iqbal Auditorium UAF here on Wednesday for flood hit persons of Tehsil Atharah Hazari, district Jhang.
Teachers, students and dignitaries donated cash and relief goods worthRs.5 million in which Rs.150,000/- were collected by selling tickets to the teachers and students of the university while medicines worth of Rs.4.6 million were collected from various Pharmaceutical and Medicines companies.
Dr. Ahsan Akhtar, Managing Director, A&K Pharmaceutical also donated human and veterinary medicines worth of Rs.0.07 million for the people of flood affected areas.
Renowned folk singer Nadeem Abbas entertained the audience by performing famous folk songs.
The Rhythmic Band of Faisalabad also presented a musical show with popular songs. Three plays were staged on gender and social issues faced by the flood victims. Students also performed skits to entertain the viewers. Addressing the audience, Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chancellor UAF lauded the efforts of the Art Club and encouraged the students to continue their vibrant role for bringing integrity and national harmony.
He was of the view that such an events were hallmark of a forward looking society.
He said that outreach activities of UAF would become a constant feature.
He described the charity show a fabulous blend of social and cultural activities of this area.
