Peshawar: The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has given an ultimatum of one week to all the government sector universities to fill their empty management posts according to the procedure provided under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities (Amendment) Act 2016; or else action would be taken against the vice chancellor of the university.

The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa called a meeting of all the government sector universities on June 15th, 2017, and instructed them to instantly ensure the appointment on managerial posts as most of the teaching faculty runs the managerial business in various universities.
On March 8th, 2017, the Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a notification, observing that most of the teaching faculty in the universities were serving on the main managerial posts as well as ordered the institutes to fill these posts according to the procedure provided under Sections 13, 14, 15 and 17A of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities (Amendment) Act 2016.
Though, the universities ignored the notification and did not follow the orders of higher education department. Following the notification, the advisor to the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani called the heads of all universities and ordered to make sure the proper implementation of Universities Amended Act 2016.

The vice chancellors guaranteed him that the empty managerial positions will be filled soon.
While talking to the media sources an official of Higher Education Department, requesting anonymity, said that the teaching faculty runs the managerial business in most of the varsities due to which the studies are often neglected.
He also added that almost 70 percent of the teaching faculty works on management posts in Islamia College University Peshawar and 50% of the teaching faculty works on the same positions in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.
He moreover said that there are numerous other universities where teaching staff held main positions of the management.
The vice chancellor of Islamia College University Peshawar Prof Dr Habib Ahmad told the media sources that they have already publicized managerial posts in newspapers whereas they will soon start a hiring process.

He further added that it was not possible to hire the officers on main managerial posts in only one week and a thorough procedure will take time. If the heads of the university failed to comply along with the orders the strict action will be taken against the VC concerned.
