Lahore: To meet the future requirements of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has decided to set up a first technical and vocational training university of Pakistan in Punjab province in association along with the Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE).

The chairperson of TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and the Chairman of TUTE Liu Xin signed the agreement in Tianjin, China, for the establishment of University of Technical and Vocational Education (UTVE) in Punjab.

The Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood were also present there.

As per the signed agreement, almost nine degree courses will be offered at the university in IT, automobile, electronics, mechanical mechatronics, management science, advanced Chinese language, pedagogical training as well as the 3D printing technology.

Moreover, the agreement stated that TUTE will share its experience for the establishment as well as the functioning of the new university, including the syllabuses and the setup of disciplines, development of main courses, courses development and modification, establishment of laboratories and also the training of trainers accompanied by the expenditures covered by TEVTA.

While speaking on the event, TEVTA chairperson said that the dream of Shahbaz Sharif of the UTVE will become true along with the establishment of this university.

"The hard work of Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashood is also admirable in this regard," he added. Irfan further said that the youth consisted of 60% of the population of Pakistan, and the construction of the UTVE will provide expert manpower to the CPEC.

According to the signed agreement, TEVTA will provide a building in Punjab, endure the expenditures for the functional purposes and also train the UTVE teachers in TUTE, China when needed.

TUTE will send Chinese professional trainers to Pakistan to educate the people here. TEVTA will also organize the trainings of commonly agreed number of learners, who will be trained in China.

It will also bear all the expenditures of teachers as well as of aspirants, including training fee, boarding, accommodation, meals as well as international travelling.

TEVTA would also bear all the expenditures of technical aid offered by TUTE and the hiring of international consultants for technical aid about the establishment of the UTVE.

On the other hand, the TUTE will offer the technical aid for the strategy to purchase a state-of-the-art facility. It would also support the design as well as planning of advanced labs for all the technologies, endowment of technical aid to TEVTA teachers for the advance syllabus development as well as teaching learning resources (TLRs).

The Chinese university would also be responsible for organizing trainings to mutually agreed number of learners and trainers from TEVTA.

Likewise, authorization and evaluation for the programmes being run at the varsity will also be done by the Chinese university.

Though, a team of professionals will visit at the earliest time to judge the system in Punjab for developing a project proposal for the establishment of UTVE.
